Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fiber has occupied every corner of life
(1) Application in filter material
The bag filter developed with PTFE staple fiber has excellent temperature resistance, strong acid and alkali resistance, and good oxidation resistance. Therefore, it can be used as a filter for high-temperature and high-humidity dust and corrosion-resistant gas; it has good low friction, smooth surface, easy to clean, and low running resistance; it has good flame resistance, insulation and heat insulation, and service life long. Polytetrafluoroethylene filaments are prepared by twisting, warping, and weaving to form polytetrafluoroethylene fiber mesh and ion exchange membrane made of composite sulfonic acid resin, which are essential key components of chlor-alkali engineering. PTFE fibers and microporous films also have great potential in water treatment, especially for the problems of treating mercerizing wastewater and landfill leachate in printing and dyeing wastewater.
(2) Application in aerospace and personal protection
The space suit is generally composed of underwear, ventilation layer, thermal insulation layer, air tight limit layer, water-cooled clothing, heat insulation clothing and tear-proof layer. The limiting layer is made of polyamide fiber, polytetrafluoroethylene fiber or aramid fiber. The main material of the anti-tear layer is synthetic fibers, such as aramid and PTFE fiber fabrics.
(3) Application in construction
PTFE woven fabric is used as the base fabric, and the surface is compounded with a PTFE film to prepare a film-forming construction material. It has good light transmission, can reduce lighting and air conditioning costs, has good aging resistance, and has a low coefficient of friction. The construction period of the roof can be shortened by 50%, light weight, earthquake resistance and noncombustibility, and large design freedom. Therefore, it can be used as roof materials for outdoor stadiums, arenas, gyms, ice rinks, swimming pools, large exhibitions, etc.
(4) Application in the field of self-lubrication
PTFE fiber has a low coefficient of friction. It is made of fabric self-lubricating pad by weaving and impregnating in phenolic resin, epoxy resin and other resins. During heavy-duty wear, a PTFE transfer film is formed between the inner and outer ring contact surfaces of the spherical plain bearing, thereby significantly reducing the friction coefficient between the inner and outer races of the bearing, and extending the service life of the self-lubricating spherical plain bearing. Plain bearings with PTFE fiber or fabric have the characteristics of lubrication-free, durable, and good environmental adaptability. They are widely used in the industrial field of bearings with strong load, maintenance-free, small size and light weight. PTFE fiber bearings are used in food processing machinery to ensure food hygiene to a large extent and eliminate lubricant pollution.
(5) Application in medical and health
PTFE yarn is pure inert, non-toxic, has very strong biological adaptability, does not cause rejection of the body, has no physiological side effects on the human body, can be sterilized by any method, has a microporous structure, and can be used for soft tissue regeneration Artificial blood vessels, and surgical sutures for blood vessels, heart, general surgery and plastic surgery. Its excellent anti-microbial, antibacterial, long flex life and zero moisture regain, etc., make people continue to open up the application of fibers in this field. In recent years, PTFE yarns have also been used as abrasion resistant materials for wear-resistant clothing.
